lily allen lost her baby

Thursday, November 4th, 2010

I’m very sad to share this, but it looks as though one of my favorites Lily Allen just lost her pregnancy …she was due in January to have a little boy.  The singer had given up her music career and was keeping things low key as she had decided she was ready to have babies and wanted to devote her energy to building a family.  She had been quoted saying that having a family as “Ultimately  my main goal in life.”  This is Lily’s second miscarriage.

Lily was supposed to perform at a Winter Ball raising money for Elton John‘s AIDS Foundation this past Saturday.  At the event, John did not let on why Allen wasn’t able to perform, but shared his best wishes, telling the crowd, “Godspeed, Lily. We wish you well and send you all of our love.”

She seemed to be taking good care of herself and she’s so young (25), it’s shocking to me that she would have to suffer such a tragedy so late in the pregnancy.  At any rate, my heart goes out to her along with good healing wishes.

katy perry and o.p.i. team up

Katy Perry, the self-proclaimed “product whore” (I hear ya, sister), who is releasing a fragrance next month, has teamed up with O.P.I. for the mini-collection that debuts at ULTA in January.  Each shade is named after a song: Teenage Dream (glittery pink), Not Like the Movies (silver), Last Friday Night (glittery blue), and The One That Got Away (berry).

I wouldn’t even be talking about this, but I saved the best for last.  Also included in the collection is Black Shatter.  When added as a top coat, the lacquer creates a cracked effect.  Coooooooool!  I am definitely going to acquire that one …or two, I haven’t seen that actual product around and I might need backup since it’s limited.

‘thriller’ to become a movie …hmm

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

The Michael Jackson estate is about to get another chunk of change now that there is a bidding war over packaging a film around the legendary song/music video Thriller.  Oh boy.

Kenny Ortega is attached to direct the film, while The Hangover writer Jeremy Garelick pens the script.  On the one hand Kenny directed This Is It (and worked closely with Michael on directing the tour itself before it sadly couldn’t happen) …on the other hand he directed High School Musical.  EW.  The plot is being kept secret, but Mandate/Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment are involved in what will end up as a pricey rights deal that will cap the film’s budget at $50 million.

Rumor has it that the movie will center on Vincent Price and the town he grew up in.  The Jackson estate has to sign off on the deal, but that has been in the works for some time and is expected to be done shortly.  Um.  I need more information.  Thriller …without Michael Jackson (in his prime) …yeah, interesting theatrical idea …no Michael.  High School Musical director.  I need more information.  But thus far I am thinking, let’s just enjoy what he has already contributed and leave well enough alone.  Stop capitalizing off the guy.  I know, I know …that’s silly talk.  How on earth will the people that sponged off him in life keep living off him if they don’t keep it up now that he has “regained popularity?”

We’ll be seeing much more of Michael’s work soon!  Cirque du Soleil is in talks to do two live shows based on his music (TWO?! oh brother), while Ivan Reitman and Tom Pollock have a feature about Michael’s younger years in the works.  I am willing to bet a Cirque du Soleil project will be pretty cool, but why two?

ozzy osbourne has some interesting dna results

Saturday, October 30th, 2010

We all know that Ozzy Osbourne was the lead singer of Black Sabbath.  We know that he bit the head off a bat.  We know he’s referred to as the “Prince of Darkness.”  We did NOT know that Ozzy is a man of science.

Ozzy Osbourne is one of the only people in the world who’s had his entire genetic code deciphered!

According to researchers at Knome, a company which specializes in analysis of human genomes, Ozzy’s blood sample reveals that he has inherited some DNA from the extinct race of Neanderthals.  Aside from his Neanderthal background, Ozzy is also a distant relative of Russian tsar Nicholas II, King George I, and outlaw Jesse James.  Cool!

Here’s what Ozzy has said about his reasoning for getting his DNA analyzed:

“Given the swimming pools of booze I’ve guzzled over the years–not to mention all of the cocaine, morphine, sleeping pills, cough syrup, LSD, Rohypnol…you name it–there’s really no plausible medical reason why I should still be alive.”

“Maybe my DNA could say why.”

Pretty interesting stuff.  Heh, I like that he can acknowledge the medical marveling we’ve all experienced when it comes to him still standing.  My, I’d just love to see my entire lineage …hmm, well, would I?
