taylor swift sells over a million copies of her album in one week

Friday, November 5th, 2010

Taylor Swift should be in celebration mode as her new album, Speak Now, is a top the charts in it’s first week of sales, selling one million copies!  According to sources, the record is selling at a percentage of between 17 and 18.  That means nearly one in every five albums bought last week was Swift’s!

Pretty impressive, considering that on top of all that, she is the first artist it almost two years to have an album out that sold 1 million copies in it’s first week!  Not just that, but there was a ton of anticipated pressure over the assumed mega success of her album.  She can rest now rest easy again knowing she delivered.  Not just that, but she also managed to do this in a time when the music industry is flailing desperately when it comes to selling albums vs. having them pirated for free.

It can’t hurt that she has become famous and she continues to write about her personal life when it has become a big topic of interest to a lot of people.  I honestly don’t think she does it as a gimmick to sell records, I just think that’s what she is moved to write about and she writes in a very literal way.  So, the public gets catchy little tunes with personal details of public figures that interest them (in a universally relatable topic as love and heartbreak) and Swift sells albums in mass.  Do I wish someone like Fiona Apple would achieve numbers like that over the more generic music?  Yes.  But nonetheless, it is what it is.  As I have said before, I’d pick her ANY day of the week to be a teen idol over most of the choices out there.

Good for you Swift!

john stamos was SUPPOSED to play frank-n-furter on “glee”

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

…But sometimes life just isn’t fair.

Sources are confirming that in an original draft of The Rocky Horror Glee Show, John Stamos was meant to play the sweet tranvestite Dr. Frank-N-Furter instead of Amber Riley!  Inspired choice, he would have totally knocked it out of the park!  He surprisingly rocked the racy and charismatic role of the MC in Cabaret on Broadway.

Problem was, when the network got their hands on the first draft of the script, their fishnets got into a twist and they didn’t like Stamos in the role.  When asked about it, John told sources:

“I was supposed to be doing ‘Sweet Transvestite,’ but I think the network saw the script and was like, ‘Stamos in fish nets? It’s too soon!’ So they switched it up. I was bummed, because I wanted to play that part.”

I’m bummed too!  I think it would have made a HUGE difference on the overall outcome of the episode.  Stamos would have had the energy, talent ability and feisty attitude to pull it off …not to mention I would have LOOOOVED to have seen him sport the corset and show off them legs!  No.  Instead they have him all covered up as possibly the only handsome version of Eddie there ever was.  Let’s not argue whether or not it’d be appropriate to have him in that role in a school play, they crossed appropriate when the teacher character of Will thought he should be Rocky.  Seriously, Emma needs to get back with him soon.  He has already sang and danced around to Britney music causing a sex riot and took his shirt off in the “Rocky” episode to get her attention …ummm, what else can he do?

once again, I love christina hendricks

Despite the fact that nearly every man in the world ogles over Christina Hendricks‘ body, some people think that she’s a little too “curvy.”  Fortunately, unlike most women in her town, she knows how to set them straight!  “I’m completely happy with my body, I’m not dropping 35 lbs!” said Hendricks in response to criticism.  Word.  I bet she really wishes at this point people would move onto a different topic than backhanded questions about her body …just a thought.  The important thing is she handles it really well and sets a great example attitude-wise for others.
