conan speaks up

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Conan O’Brien revealed that he would have left NBC over doing what Jay Leno did to him.  Well, YEAH!  Can’t say I blame him and I love every second of how he has handled it (humorously and honestly, while looking out for his staff).  He explains in an interview with 60 MinutesSteve Kroft airing on May 2:

He went and took that show back and I think in a similar situation, if roles had been reversed, I know– I know me, I wouldn’t have done that.

“If I had surrendered The Tonight Show and handed it over to somebody publicly and wished them well– and then…six months later. But that’s me, you know. Everyone’s got their own, you know, way of doing things.”

As for why HE left NBC, Conan said it was because he didn’t think it would be the best work environment anymore.  Once again I say, well, YEAH!  He says:

“I think this relationship is going be toxic and maybe we just need to go our separate ways. That’s really how it felt to me…and I started to feel that I’m not sure these people even really want me here….I can’t do it [anymore].”

Well he’s going his own way now and I’m sure he’ll be a HUGE success on TBS!  If there is anything really positive that can be said about the whole situation, it’s this:  It has granted him some great publicity and has brought people out of the woodwork to support him.

As always, I’m rooting for ya Coco!

mugshot winner

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

WOW.  This charmer is a find!  It says so on the tattoo above his lip …and neck …and, yeah, ew.  This mugshot was brought to us because he violated his parole.  For what, I’m not sure.  Who cares?  I think we know all we need to know.  At least enough to point and laugh a little bit.

your WTF?! story of the day

Want to hear a gross story?  Here goes:  A 72 year old woman and her 26 year old GRANDSON are romantically involved and having a child together.  Told ya it was gross.

Pearl Carter gave her daughter up for adoption when she was 18, and apparently the two never met. When Phil Bailey, her grandson, lost his mother to cancer, he discovered Pearl’s existence and located her.  The two hit it off and soon after become lovers!

According to Pearl, this is phenomenon known as GSA, or Genetic Sexual Attraction, where two relatives meet as adults and become attracted to each other.

She says:

‘From the first moment that I saw him, I knew we would never have a grandmother-grandson relationship. For the first time in years I felt sexually alive. I called Phil into my bedroom, sat him on the bed, and then I leaned over and kissed him. I expected rejection but instead he kissed me back. Living with Phil as my life partner has been amazing. He cooks and cleans and we make love three times a week. We can’t keep our hands off each other.’

And Phil apparently agrees:

‘I was thrilled and excited. I could be with Pearl and it was OK because she’d never raised me or been in my life. Making love to Pearl was a real eye-opener. It was love combined with all this sexual tension that had been building up. I love Pearl with all my heart. I’ve always been attracted to older women and I think Pearl is gorgeous. Now I’m going to be a dad and I can’t wait.’

Because Pearl has already gone through menopause, the couple are using a surrogate mother named Roxanne Campbell, who has become comfortable with their relationship.

She says:

‘Initially I was shocked. But they’re a brilliant pair and I saw how much they loved each other. I know the baby will be loved too.’

I feel so dirty and uncomfortable. This is awful.

Pearl continues:

‘I am finally going to be a mum and not forced to give up my child. Phil’s going to be a great dad. I never in a million years thought at 72 I’d be “pregnant” and in love with my grandson. I make no apologies and I believe God’s given me a second chance.’

Honestly…wow…no words. These two are waaay too comfortable talking about their personal lives.

gaga makes the time 100 list!

Lady GaGa appears in Time magazine’s Time 100 issue about the people who most affect our world.

Cyndi Lauper shares her thoughts on GaGa:

“When I see somebody like Gaga, I sit back in admiration. I’m inspired to pick up the torch again myself. I did an interview with her once, and she showed up with a sculpture on her head. I thought, How awesome.

“Being around her, I felt like the dust was shaken off of me. I find it very comforting to sit next to somebody and not have to worry that I look like the freak. She isn’t a pop act, she is a performance artist. She herself is the art. She is the sculpture.

Cyndi is a fantastic person to speak on her behalf as she herself is a performance icon.  I wore some pretty snazzy outfits in public as a kid trying to emulate her.  I won’t give it all away, but it involved a nightgown, baton, fake lei, witch hat and a red petticoat on my head…I missed my calling!  Aside from fashion/performance strength, both of those women have really contributed to trying to make positive differences in the world around them (they just happened to both do the Viva La Glam campaign together).  CONGRATS GAGA!
