dog has a “fetch machine”

October 19th, 2010

Check out the video (above) to see Jerry the dachshund play fetch with himself!

He’s SO happy!

This lucky guy’s brilliant owner built a contraption out of what seems to be a tennis racquet stringer and some surgical tubing, that when a ball is dropped into a certain spot, launches it a random distance.  A custom coding built and everything.

The best part?  The dog knows how to operate the machine itself!  Can you say endless hours of fun!?  Jerry’s owner still claimed to throw more balls than that machine ever did, ha!  If Bowser had one, he’d either be afraid of it or he’d not like it because it wouldn’t chase him around trying to get the ball from him (that’s the fun part to him …to each their own).

michael jackson’s children want to buy back neverland ranch

October 19th, 2010

Many children over the years were invited to visit the wondrous playground built by Michael Jackson known as Neverland Ranch, but only two were privileged enough to live there.  Those kiddies are now looking into plans to buying back the property when they’re old enough.

Sources claim that Jackson’s eldest children, Prince Michael and Paris, are looking to build a “shrine…community park and center for animals” on the property when they inherit their fortunes left to them by their father.  Reportedly, the children remember fondly their rooms at the ranch and even young Blanket enjoyed his time spent there last summer.  The property was sold off while Michael was still alive to pay off some of his massive debt, but the money left to the kids should be more than enough to buy it back.

It would be a nice gesture to their father’s memory, for sure …and to use it as a community/animal center vs. a memory of their dad’s controversy is even better.

disney/marvel strikes distribution deal with paramount

October 19th, 2010

Walt Disney Studios and Marvel have announced a new distribution deal with Paramount, who will now distribute Iron Man 3, The Avengers, Thor and Captain America.  Disney will pay $115 million to Paramount for worldwide marketing and distribution rights on the film’s release date.

Disney Studio chairman Rich Ross said:

“In completing this agreement, Disney will now assume worldwide marketing and distribution of The Avengers and Iron Man 3 and leverage these two highly-anticipated films across the multiple global platforms of The Walt Disney Company. We appreciate the tremendous momentum that Paramount established with these iconic Marvel characters and look forward to propelling the brand even further in the coming years.”

Brad Grey, Chairman & CEO of Paramount Pictures added:

“Five years ago, when Paramount and Marvel made our initial deal, both our businesses were in very different places. We are grateful for the partnership we have had with the terrific Marvel team over these years and proud of the work we have done together. Today, this new agreement is the right deal for Paramount, for Marvel and for Disney. We look forward to working together on Thor and Captain America, and we wish Disney and Marvel the utmost success, in what we know will be a very productive and wide-ranging partnership.”

Oh Disney, they’ve made a good business out of buying other people’s fine work (hi, Pixar) and branding it as theirs and making a huge profit.  Their amazing marketing is the most powerful thing about them, so it makes sense.  They’re smart business ones they are…
I thought Iron Man 2 SUCKED (there aren’t words strong enough to describe how much worse it was compared to the first one …not all action films are created equal, that’s for sure) sooo, I’m not planning on seeing a third installment, but there’s no doubt a ton of other folks will.  I never thought I’d see the day where I favored Terrence Howard in a role over Don Cheadle.  Weird.  Also, Jeff Bridges TRUMPS Mickey Rourke as the choice of villain.  Another turn as Tony Stark just seems like a waste of Robert Downey Jr.‘s time and talent.  I was shocked that even he couldn’t salvage the second one for me …I love him no matter what!  But, as I said, I’m in the minority, so it stands to be a great deal for all involved.  Just the fact that they got their hands on The Avengers …yeah, that in and of itself is huge.

john f kennedy’s 1962 birthday cake topper goes up for auction!

October 18th, 2010

Check out this sugar Presidential Seal, which was featured on President John F. Kennedy‘s birthday in 1962 and is now up for auction!

According Lois Larkin, her husband, the late NYPD detective Patty Larkin, was working security detail the night of Kennedy’s birthday party at Madison Square Garden – the very same one at which Marilyn Monroe sang “Happy Birthday” – and when he realized that the decoration was going to be thrown out, he took it home with him.  Smart thinking, because the piece is now up for auction on November 17th, at the Heritage Auctions in Dallas, and is estimated at being worth over $5,000!

Yowsa, that is one vintage, patriotic …and pricey desert.  I hope whoever purchases it takes good care of that little odd piece of history.  I’m sure they would, if someone is spending that sort of money on it.  That, or the producers of Jackass will purchase it for some elaborate sketch where they dare each other to eat it or punch each other in the balls with it.  You never know these days.
